Whew another cold night that I managed to pass warmly in my snug and humid sleeping bag.

Yesterday I had decided to call upon a Couch Surfing host residing near Craven Gap. I had talked to him previously and he was willing to put me up for a couple nights. As a former AT thruhiker in the 60s he also knows what a hiker needs during a town stop. All I had to do was get to his vicinity.

I didn't think I'd make it all the way to Craven Gap and I was right. First I got another late start and second I was tired. For some reason I didn't have much energy and the miles were passing slowly.

There were some awesome spots that I hiked through though. Today I entered a stretch known as the Great Craggy Mountains. Some of the knobs I went over had just low shrubs (blueberry and mountain laurel) and the views were outstanding. Then there was the scenic Craggy Gardens area. Very nice but the day was growing long. I considered having David pick me up at the visitor center of the picnic area but opted to go a little further and wait on the parkway at mile post 368.

The plan worked out well and soon I was enjoying his hospitality and doing laundry. There are two cyclists here for a few days as well. Good times on and off the trial
