Another day without rain! Still it was very wet out with water dripping from the trees and puddled on the trail in big mud holes. We put on our damp clothes and they stayed that way all day.

There were a number of viewpoints along the trail. This day the view was the same as in the past - just blank grey cloud. The rest of the trail was through thick vegetation. It is amazing how dense the forest can be. When those trees fall across the trail they can be big obstacles since it is hard to pass to either side. Other challenges along the way were slabs of rock in the trail to be climbed over. Personally I enjoy those.

On a bad note I am having some sort of ligament pain above my right ankle. It started yesterday and was worse this morning. I spent the day trying to walk without flexing my foot. Hopefully it doesn't get worse. Good thing we are not doing many miles.

Tonight the shelter is almost full with six hikers. There are two middle aged guys that walked up from the road and are headed north. The other two are northbound section hikers who worked hard to get a fire started with wet wood. they were successful and we had a nice fire and dried (burned) my shoes. It ended up being quite the party. What a good day.
