Last night was restless. I don't know why. Maybe it was the cold, but it didn't seem especially cold.

Yesterday's big day meant few miles for today. This part of the trail had some small ups and downs. An easy .8 miles away from where I laid out under the stars was Prospect Rock which afforded me views of Manchester. Then I was back in the forest hiking north to one of my favorite shelters, Spruce Peak Lodge. It is a beautiful cabin that I overnighted in 2000 with some LTers. Today I had some water and a snack and hiked out to Vt 11.

I rode my thumb into town and even got dropped off at my accomodations. It is called Sutton's Place (http://www.suttonsplacevermont.com) and is popular with the hiker crowd. Manchester Center is a nice, albeit touristy town. Everything is very convenient for the hiker here. I quickly did my email, got some Long Trail Ales, and did my laundry. Then I feasted. Back at Sutton's I discovered Toad was there and we drank the brews. Tomorrow the post office.
