Morlass - Lescar
15 October 2002
Day's km: ?
Overall km: 206.5

Easy day to the beautiful town of Lescar. I am spending the night in the pilgrim refuge near the old center, the cité. Rolf signed in yesterday. He must have reached Morlaas early enough to push on to here. Other than him, there is a huge group of Germans 8 days ahead of me and 1 Belgian 6 days ahead of me.

The walls of old Lescar are gone but one 14th century and two 17th century gates remain. One the 17th century gates is now the entry to someones yard and had a bag of garbage outside. There is also the Cathedral of Notre-Dame (not that Notre-Dame) from the 12th century and a ruined bishop's palace with pretty much just two towers remaining. Below the old city is a nice view of the lower town and on to the mountains.

The Pyrénées keep getting closer. Now that I have rounded Pau, the Chemin will take me directly toward them.
