Album: destinations:Spain:Sevilla

After leaving Cordoba, the AVE train whisked me to Sevilla, the home of bullfights and flamenco dancers. Also, this city is home to the 3rd largest cathedral in Europe and its mighty belltower, Giralda. Its builders bragged in 1401 that "We'll build a cathedral so huge that anyone who sees it will take us for madmen." Inside among the typical trappings of a rich cathedral, is the tomb of Christopher Columbus held aloft by 4 of the regional kings of Spain. Afterward, I toured the Alcázar originally a 10th century Moorish palace. I ended my visit with a trip to the riverfront to see the "Tower of Gold" originally covered in yellow tile that received shipping to and from the New World.
