Album: Hadrians Wall Path:Day6-Birdoswald

2 August 2007: day 6
Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
Once Brewed Carlisle 17.7 (18.7) today / 71.2 (74.45) total

Once Brewed to the city of Carisle is a common itinerary. The best of the wall is behind us at this point and the path soon leaves the crags. After checking out the fort behind the hostel I was off down the road. It wasn't long before the last scraps of roman occupation were behind me.

This is a short journal entry because there just wasn't much to report from the day. The only interesting thing was the dog that decided to accompany me for some reason. I have a feeling it walks up and down the trail escorting hikers. It seemed to know how to get around all the gates.

In Carisle I am staying at the local YHA hostel which is in student dorms for the university. It is really nice here and the location next to the castle and historic downtown can't be beat.
