This didn't go as planned. The last couple of miles to the TH went easily though under constant threat of rain. In fact a few sprinkles came through before I put don the tent. The next few miles on the road got me to the Ridge Stock Driveway again. I ascended the hill behind the sheep corral and topped out in a trackless meadow. I picked up the trail again at the top and ended up on 867.3A to begin a long roadwalk. There were several ATVs, dirt bikes, and trucks to keep me company the rest of the day. After a couple more miles I exited onto 867 and continued happy that routefinding was going so well.

I found the turnoff that I'd planned to take to the Blue Mesa Cutoff Road but it soon ended at private property. That was a bit of a problem. I had to turn around and hike out on 867 to US 50. That added miles plus would make finding a campsite difficult because of pvt property down the road. Additionally it added a lot of extra walking on 50 the next day.

I put in some long miles though and found a good spot above water even. Now that I've looked closer at the map though I think that I didn't quite make it to National Forest land so I'm stealth camping. Tomorrow will be another long day on the road but what is that to someone who thruhiked the MST?
