Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
CT Segment 28, mile 8 Junction Creek Trailhead 13.5 today / 481.5 total

This was sort of a long wet walk. It wasn't raining but the wet plants hanging over the trail very quickly soaked my legs and feet. There were some interesting spots like Gudy's Rest over the canyon but really I just was bored with the hike and wanted to get it done.

At Gudy's Rest I had a funny encounter. Between daytrippers I met a guy who had done half the PCT (GoGo). When he asked my trailname and I replied, he was like "I've read your stuff! You're the guy hiking the Seahorse Trail." Hehehe. Small world again. We talked for a while about trails all over. It's always amuses me when I meet somebody that already knows me through my website.

Down at the trailhead I asked for a picture near the TH plaque and Hallie obliqued. Unfortunately she didn't press the shutter button all the way down because I have no picture. Fortunately she was very nice in offering me a ride into Durango. On the way down she offered to take me up to Kennebec Trailhead on Saturday. That is very appealing. She's retired from the Forest Service and worked on many of the trails I've been hiking. She dropped me off at the Rec Center so I could get a shower ($4.50). The hostel is out of town a little so I decided to shower now, get in clean clothes, and explore before heading over there. During my wanderings down Main Street, I encountered Shrek and Donkey who were headed to Steamworks Brewery for an impromptu thruhiker dinner. Sweet!

The Steamworks reunion was awesome. Peaches & Pebbles were there plus Shrek and Donkey and a couple others that I hadn't met before. They hadn't met me either but had read my journal entries to get snow info way back then. I was told that I was a celebrity. :) I don't know about that but I lived up to my trailname once more. Everyone was happy to be heading home and nobody accepted my invitation to walk the GCL back to Denver. :)
