Speleofest 29 June 2005: Big Bat Cave

Big Bat was the other highly recommended "must do" cave. It was good but not near as good as Thornhill. The most remarkable feature was the pit partially blocking the route from the culvert "Mushroom Entrance". The pit itself wasn't anything special at maybe 25 feet deep but the way around it was somewhat exciting. It was a very narrow, sloping, and wet ledge to crawl across. At its narrowest it was probably only two feet wide. Wall on one side, pit on another. There was a handline rigged for some measure of safety but it was too limp to be much help balancing.
