07 April 2007: day 57
Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
Woodlawn picnic area Old Parkway service road at Buck Creek Gap 12.8 / 726.8

It was an hour and a quarter until I had a ride back out to the Woodlawn picnic area on 221. I'm glad he stopped for me on the way to prison to visit his brother because it was cold out there. There had also been snow in the mountains and some cars had quite a lot on their roofs.

The hike wasn't anything special. It wound around some hills until it climbs up Woods Mountain on an old road. There was snow here and there where the sun couldn't reach. It was warm enough but only because I was hiking. Nothing much to report other than I made it back to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I hiked with a day hiker a bit and found out they closed the Parkway due to [weather] conditions, and it is very cold again. It is 29.6 ° F right now (21:36).

Dinner was two sesame bagels with salami and cheese. Oh that was good!
