It is great to be well rested and get an early start like this morning. As you know that does not always happen. I put in a lot of road miles and made a conscious effort to photograph old buildings. I have been passing a lot of history along these back roads and don't want to finish the MST without a good record of what I saw. After all I will be leaving farm country soon enough and need to take those types of pictures while I still can.

Tonight I'm sleeping out in the woods behind a gas station/convenience store. I asked the Egyptian running the place and he was cool with it. Nice guy. Funny story: After setting up camp in the woods I returned to the store to get a few items for breakfast. After I finished talking with the clerk, a cheerful woman confided in me that her daughter in the van was awfully suspicious of me in my hat and gloves. I had a good laugh and explained what I wsa doing out there. She was really interested in the trip and took me out to meet her family. I'm sure her daughter was mortified. It reminds me of that youth group I met on the AT who were sure I was going to "kill them all" in their sleep with my big knife. Ah the memories...
