6 Mar 2007: day 25
Start Destination Daily Miles / Total
somewhere on the Falls Lake Trail Old Weaver Rd 12.5 today / 353.8 total

I'm writing this a day late because as usual there was way too much to do during a town stop.

Although I stopped short last night, I was tired and not suitably motivated to get moving early. Why would I want to rush back out to the road anyway? There were 8 miles between me and busy route 50, and I was going to enjoy them. It felt almost natural to be hiking a trail through the woods although I haven't done that since the Neusiok Trail back in the National Forest.

It was late by the time I left the trail and later still after my ice cream sandwich break down the road. It didn't really matter because Friends of the Mountain to Sea Trail head honcho, Jeff Brewer, would be driving up the road looking for me. He found me on Old Weaver Rd and whisked me home. He lives near Falls Lake Dam but would be dropping me right back where I left off in the morn.

Jeff and his wife were excellent hosts and their actions were much appreciated by this hiker. Soon I was squeaky clean and well fed. I spent most of the night coordinating maildrops and a Greensboro stay with another long distance hiker. Finally I had to get some sleep and went to bed at 12:30.
