Goodbye Grand Canyon. There are no shuttles on the North Rim so I had to walk the .7 miles back to the trailhead. Yes, I would have picked up a shuttle for that. :) The trail followed a utility corridor near other roads today. In Harvey Meadow, I took a short side trip to find the cave shown on my topo map. It was a small overhang that someone had walled up. I'd like to know the story behind that. From then on the trail was nondescript and I don't have much to say.

At a picnic area on 87, I took a break to drink my two leftover beers and have a granola bar. i love picnic areas with trash and recycling. The hot sun and beers made me a little drowsy so shortly after rejoining the trail, I napped for about 1.5 hours. That was nice with the exception of the ants crawling all over me that forced me to move.

Near the northern border of the park, I took another side trip to a historic cabin and lookout. Both were in bad shape. I wasn't going to risk going up that tower with the bent frame and no cable supports.

After that it was a pleasant 3 miles down Upper North Canyon. I reached my goal of Sourdough Well which is defunct but there is a small pond nearby. These next 20 miles have good water so I won't need to pump water from here.

The AZT joined the Kaibab Plateau Trail 101 and will be following it for the next 60 miles.
