Up Bright Angel Canyon to the next campground today. Disaster struck during a side trip to Ribbon Falls. I took a picture. "Write Error". I took another. "Write Error" again. I rebooted the camera and it tells me the memory card cannot be read and needs to be reformated. I tried again with the same results. I probably lost all my photos since Mather Campground where I swapped cards and sent the last SD card to Brian to put online. I can't trust this card now even if I reformat it so I'm using the camera's internal memory for storage. This means I have to drop down to 640x480 (.3 megapixal) photos for the rest of my hike to Utah (and only 101 of those). :( And today was gorgeous! I think this is my favorite stretch of the AZT.

From the campground I passed through Phantom Ranch again and dropped off some postcards. Then the next 2:10 I hiked through narrow, twisty canyon ("The Box") next to Bright Angel Creek. It was in glorious shade. Then there was an easy hour in the sun when the canyon widened. I took the side trail to to super cool Ribbon Falls. It's a must see waterfall. I'm glad that I'll at least have some small pictures. Then dejected, I hiked very early into Cottonwood Camp where I am now. I gained 1,600 feet. That leaves a lot of uphill for tomorrow but at least it isn't many miles to the North Rim Campground.

Very happy with the rattlesnake photos I just took!!
