During the night I was woken up by rain on my face. Damn! Unlike last time, the ground would hold a thin stake. The tent was erected with little trouble. It was a lot nicer inside this time and I got a good long night of sleep. The short sporadic bursts continued all day. It would rain for 2-20 seconds very lightly. No hassle but combined with the cold for a slightly uncomfortable day. I'll still take it over heat anytime though.

My mission was to hike into Mormon Lake Village for a late lunch. I'd heard that the trail was still closed ahead due to logging, and the reroute goes through the village. I recalled from pre-hike research that three was a steakhouse but I had forgotten that it was only open Fri-Sun so my mission was doomed to failure. After about 10 miles of hiking I was eating microwave hamburger and Philly Steak Hot Pocket instead of a nice steak. Surprisingly the hamburger was decent.

I'm sneakily camped sort of at the Forest Service's Double Springs Campground. I'm not actually using a site but I can see the pay sites from my tent. I'm probably too close to be legit but it is a great spot. The springs have a great flow! I pumped some good water and am enjoying Early Times Whiskey. I had my new favorite trail dinner tonight - instant refried beans with crumbled Doritos. Yum!
