Having woken up multiple times, I knew it was cold last night. This morning there was frost on everything &em; an AZT first for me. It did not turn out to be another chilly, gusty day though. Too bad. Still it wasn't overly hot either. There was some cloud build-up to the north but it never affected me. Partway through the day there was a nice pine forest. That was the highlight of the hike, but it only lasted a couple miles. Good walking though and a nice place for a snack break. I hope to be seeing more of this once I get over the Rim. I'm at LF Ranch! It was a long, rocky, toe-stubbing, ankle-twisting downhill but I made it. The ranch reminds me of a mix of some places I stayed at on the AT and in South America. I hadn't been able to call ahead and arrange for meals but the owner is going to cook up some potatoes and eggs for me in the morning. Excellent, because I was short 1 meal. And after my shower, I managed to rinse out some clothes before the solar well shut down for the day. And I got rid of my garbage bag ziploc. This has been a great stay so far and I have the bunkhouse to myself tonight. Good night! |
