My maps noted that section 6 is something of a roller-coaster that wears you out with small ups and downs. I managed to zone out though and went through on autopilot. I don't have my trail legs yet so the higher mileage was due to a pre-dawn start. I woke up cold and decided to start hiking early.

I met the Kiwi hikers and another Arizonian thruhiker. Weka and Kea were dropped off at Montezuma Pass the same day I hiked up from the Visitor Center. That explains how they were signed in so early. The've been a few miles ahead of me the whole way. I didn't catch the other hikers name. He's a first time thruhiker and seems to be doing well so far.

I'm camped at Twin Tanks with them both. The Kiwis hooked me up with some clean water and protein bars from a local guy in a truck they convinced to go home for them. Much appreciated because the water here is nasty.
